Merged into Mozilla Firefox: migrated the DevTools stylesheets and shipped themed SVG icons to the modern space-separated CSS color syntax, verified pixel-identical in Firefox. Landed by a Mozilla DevTools reviewer.

Hello, I’m Samuel Mbabhazi.

developers rely on.
Open source, close to heart
When I find something worth fixing, I follow it to the source. My work lives in the frameworks, platforms, and tools other developers build with.

NestJS. Merged. Needed in production. Contributed upstream.
Cacheable instances with non-blocking mode, shipped in cache-manager v3.1.0, plus a merged fix in NestJS core so rejected microservice reply subscriptions fail fast instead of hanging.
Public work. See it for yourself. 200+ merged pull requests. Small changes that go a long way.

Two open pull requests to Microsoft Visual Studio Code: revealing search results in the Explorer even after the view has been moved to another container, and declaring defaults for the accessibility signal delay settings so they show up correctly in the settings editor.
Type-system fixes merged into the MongoDB ODM used by millions of projects, maintained under Automattic. Keeping Model.schema typed when the schema generic is omitted, and making document types respect the schema toObject and toJSON options.
Contributions to NestJS core and its official packages. Cacheable instances with non-blocking mode in cache-manager, which I needed in production and contributed upstream instead of forking. A merged fix in the core microservices package, so requests whose reply subscription is rejected fail instead of hanging. A ModelWithSchema proposal in the Mongoose integration, resolved by my own upstream mongoose fix instead.
Merged: reads coord_dimension when loading PostgreSQL and CockroachDB spatial columns, so dimensional geometry types are introspected correctly instead of retriggering the same migration forever. Extended to CockroachDB at maintainer request. A follow-up comparing spatial columns against their default feature type and SRID is open.

More things I’ve helped build
A little about me
I’m Samuel, an engineer who cares as much about how software is built as what it makes possible.
For over five years, I’ve been building across the full stack, from NestJS APIs and database architecture to thoughtful Angular and Next.js interfaces. I turn complex requirements into software that teams can confidently maintain and grow.
Open source is part of my everyday work. When a framework gets in the way, I dig into its internals and contribute the fix upstream. That curiosity has taken my code into Mongoose, NestJS, TypeORM, WordPress, and Firefox.
How I can help
I bring the whole picture into focus: the experience your users see, and the systems that make it work.
Let’s build togetherScalable REST and GraphQL APIs with NestJS, TypeScript, and clean architecture patterns. Built for performance, testability, and long-term maintainability.
Pixel-perfect UIs with Angular and Next.js. Type-safe, accessible, and optimized for Core Web Vitals. From design system to production.
Schema design, query optimization, and migration strategies for PostgreSQL and MongoDB. ORM expertise with TypeORM and Prisma.
Code merged into Automattic’s Mongoose and official NestJS packages, with 200+ merged pull requests overall. Technical consulting on architecture decisions, code reviews, and developer tooling.
The right tools, chosen for the problem.
